Complete with photo-friendly décor and technology, the new 1888 Hotel in Australia, advertises that it’s “the world’s most Instagrammable hotel.” Fans can enjoy a free night’s stay if they exceed 10,000 Instagram followers. Plus, a monthly contest for the best photo taken while at the hotel also wins a free night’s stay.
In the boutique rooms, guests can connect their smartphones to review pictures on a 40-inch tv screen before uploading them to Instagram via Wi-Fi. Each room’s iPad allows guests to place room service orders or adjust room temperature.
Instagram-based features include Insta-walk maps leading guests to local Instagrammable backdrops like the Pyrmont Bridge, a selfie space serving as a photo booth for guests to pose; and digital screens in reception displaying guests’ uploaded images.
The building, originally a wool store, was restored for $28 million, resulting in a unique blend of historic windows and ironbark beams together with modern, colorful décor and furnishings.
